Acne is one of the most frequently occurring skin diseases. Around 85% of the population has dealt with it at least once. Caused by hormonal changes during puberty, it typically affects young people from around age 11. Acne can be caused by sebaceous gland hyperactivity, a keratinization disorder of the sebaceous glands, bacterial migration and colonization, or hormonal influences.
